      The intent of the authors of Emergency Imaging was to provide a more precise reference guide for residents on call and practicing radiologists, highlighting newer protocols and state-of-the-art imaging. Given the dramatic technological advances made over the last 5–10 years, radiologists now must quickly choose and interpret the correct choice of imaging modality and scanning parameters for the acutely ill patient. In addition, the radiologist must be able to convey the rationale of this choice to the ordering primary care or Emergency Physician (EP) and report the findings of the imaging procedure in a real-time manner.
