Changes in the United States health care system have resulted in a lack of specialist
availability for Emergency Department (ED) call. Plastic surgery is the specialty
that the greatest proportion of EDs report difficulty in obtaining. Our objective
was to determine the reasons that plastic surgeons are reluctant to take ED call.
