The Impact of Two Freestanding Emergency Departments on a Tertiary Care Center

      Freestanding emergency departments (EDs) have become increasingly popular as the need for emergency care continues to grow. Proximity to an ED increases the likelihood that a patient utilizes that ED. The objective of the study was to analyze the impact of two recently constructed freestanding EDs on a local tertiary care center's patient volume and admission rates.
