While intravenous alteplase administered within 4.5 h of symptom onset has been demonstrated
to be efficacious in reperfusion of acute ischemic stroke and to improve outcomes,
there have been no studies on the effects of directed intraarterial therapy on functional
outcomes. This study assessed whether intraarterial therapy plus usual care would
be more effective than usual care alone in acute ischemic events.
