Very Early Administration of Progesterone for Acute Traumatic Brain Injury

Wright DW, Yeatts SD, Silbergleit R, et al. N Engl J Med 2014;371:2457−66.
      This large, prospective randomized trial investigated the efficacy of early progesterone administration in nonpenetrating, blunt traumatic brain injury (TBI). Before this study, animal research and small clinical trials suggested that early progesterone administration after TBI was associated with improved neurologic outcomes.
