Prehospital Use of Magnesium Sulfate as Neuroprotection in Acute Stroke

      Before this study, magnesium sulfate was demonstrated to be vasodilatory and neuroprotective in animal models when administered within 2 h of ischemic stroke. The efficacy and safety of magnesium sulfate in humans with acute ischemic stroke had not been demonstrated previously.
