Valproic acid poisoning: is L-carnitine infusion useful to alter pharmacokinetics or improve outcome?

      Objectives: Valproic acid (VPA) poisoning causes life-threatening neurological, cardiovascular and metabolic disorders. L-carnitine is used to reverse toxicity without clinical evidence of effectiveness. We aimed to investigate the effects of L-carnitine treatment on VPA pharmacokinetics and its contribution to the patient prognosis.
