Acute tonsillitis and pharyngitis are common reasons that many patients present to
receive medical care. Due to the lack of production of new antibiotics and growing
resistance patterns, optimizing antibiotic use is paramount, especially in a condition
where there are many patients being treated for the condition with a singular agent.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether a more frequent and shorter duration
of antibiotic treatment was non-inferior to the traditional three times daily treatment
for 10 days.
