We describe the case of a patient presenting with neck pain and stiffness, in whom
no infective pathologies are detected. We draw attention to the possibility that patients
with this presentation may suffer from acute calcification of the longus colli muscles.
Treatment is conservative and the condition is self-limited, with symptoms typically
spontaneously resolving in 2–3 weeks.
